Redesigning Healthy Smiles
Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, things happen in life that damage and deteriorate our teeth, making our smiles more susceptible to decay. Even with the most vigilante brushing and flossing, cavities can occur. By simply eating the foods we love, teeth can break and crack. And on occasion, a tooth causes pain and might need to be pulled.
When these problems occur, restorative dentistry at Smile Design Centre can come to the rescue. Our team will take the time to thoroughly assess your teeth using state-of-the-art technology and trusted techniques designed to provide an accurate diagnosis.
Restorative dentistry is meant to make your teeth healthy again, so your naturally beautiful smile will last for years to come. At Smile Design Centre we are skilled at performing routine extractions to remove a problem tooth before it can do further damage to gums or nearby teeth. Crowns and bridges are excellent solutions for replacing missing teeth for a smile that’s once again complete. Despite having a bad reputation, root canal therapy is extremely effective at saving a badly damaged tooth. Thanks to advanced technology, this treatment is quick and virtually pain-free — contrary to popular belief. Partials and dentures are also important at restoring the beauty and function of your smile for renewed confidence. We can do it all!
We go to great lengths to make sure patients feel at ease about their treatment before, during, and after any procedure. Our team’s gentle approach and extensive experience help make any procedure stay stress-free. We want you and your smile healthy and feeling great!
Extractions
We always do our very best to protect your natural teeth, however, in certain circumstances an extraction (or having a tooth pulled) might become necessary. Sometimes it’s a matter of preserving oral and overall health. Other times, patients simply choose to have a problem tooth removed. Dr. Raja and Dr. Vellore use modern technology to always ensure you’re comfortable. As with any procedure, we want patients to feel stress-free and at ease. We also offer post-extraction, follow-up procedures such as bridges or implants to complete your dental treatment.
Crowns & Bridges
Crowns:
Damaged teeth plagued by cracks and fractures required some added care in order to preserve their lifespan. Because we always do our very best to keep your natural teeth, Smile Design Centre often recommends crown restorations or “caps” designed to completely cover the broken tooth. By doing so, patients enjoy added stability and durability.
Crowns are generally used to:
- Strengthen and improve the appearance of a tooth
- Support a large filling when there isn’t enough of the tooth remaining
- Attach a bridge
- Cover misshapen or discolored teeth
- Protect or restore fractured teeth
Bridges:
Do you have one or more missing teeth? Smile Design Centre will often recommend a dental appliance known as a bridge for as a long-term solution. We can place a fixed bridge — a false tooth cemented to two existing natural teeth that are then crowned to attached to the false tooth creating a powerful replacement. Unlike removable partials, fixed bridges permanently remain in place, so it’s helpful for maintaining proper oral hygiene practices. We always work with patients to educate them about the many benefits of replacing missing teeth. Unfortunately if space goes unfilled, remaining teeth tend to shift resulting in a greater risk for debilitating tooth decay, a change in appearance, along with premature wrinkles and age lines.
Root Canal Treatment
Contrary to what many patients believe, root canals are actually quite effective at stopping pain and do not necessarily cause it. Thanks to advancements in modern technology and techniques, root canals are actually more comfortable than ever. Because of this, Smile Design Centre remains resolute in recommending this type of treatment for a tooth that has been badly damaged due to decay. Endodontics or root canal therapy is a practical way to preserve natural teeth that might otherwise need to be extracted.
Root canals are necessary when infection has built up inside of a tooth — sometimes causing unbearable, unnecessary pain. If left untreated, pressure can build leading to no other option but extraction. A root canal successfully clears out any damaged, infected tissue within the tooth’s intricate root canals. After we get rid of the infection, the tooth is sealed with a protective, reliable crown.
We strive to make any and every procedure quick, easy, and painless. Root canals are no different! Never suffer in pain. Please call Smile Design Centre at the first sign of discomfort, and let’s work together to get to the “root” of the problem.
Complete & Partial Dentures
Complete and partial dentures are a viable option for patients who are missing multiple, or even all teeth. They have been proven to dramatically increase a patient’s way of life by restoring their ability to speak more clearly, helping to minimize bone loss in the jaw, and given them the chance to enjoy foods that were previously thought to be permanently off limits. They also offer an alternative solution for patients who may not be candidates for implants or bridges.
Smile Design Centre enjoys getting know patients, understanding their needs, while guiding them through the painless process of getting dentures. If we decided a patient can benefit from dentures, impressions of the gums and any remaining teeth are used to create natural, comfortable dentures. Over the process of several appointments, our skilled team take precise measurements of the jaw, gums, and any remaining teeth.
